I’m a huge fan of sling bags for Every Day Carry. They’re compact, unobtrusive, yet easily accessible when needed. Chrome Industries has been releasing some awesome slings recently and they asked if I wanted to check out their new Mini Kadet. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and I’m really enjoying how small it is. For me, the bigger the bag, the more likely I’m going to pack it out and end up carrying too much gear. The Mini Kadet is just big enough to carry my essentials without getting carried away. For this video I completely filled the sling bag just to show you how much I could pack in. Overall it’s a great EDC bag, perfect for short trips, running errands, even as a small essentials carry-on for flights.
Chrome Industries were generous enough to offer my viewers a 20% discount. Please use the code BIGHEADTACO20 at check-out. This code will work on any regular priced item on their website, and the code is not stackable (can’t use with other discounts or codes). I don’t know when the code will expire so take advantage of the discount while it’s still active.

Maybe the secret pocket is for a u-lock?
Does the regular kadet have the secret Velcro pocket?
I’m a Chrome-aholic. I still have my first one from years ago, and it looks new. A lot of miles on that bag and never an issue. The last thing I want is a camera bag that looks like a ladies purse, may as well put a bullseye on my back.
That secret pocket is for your "stash". Well, not so secret anymore.
Excellent review, the original Kadet has been my go-to for years. I like the idea of the mini being more condensed… but they killed the design by removing the iconic seatbelt buckle.
Can you fit a 20 oz water bottle in the main compartment?
Thank you for the detail review, I got the kadet mini about week ago.
Glad you show how the straps system and the secret packet, extremely helpful.
Nice video man, thanks for posting.
Love it man, you always inspire with your camera EDC setups!
Hi, thanks for everything, but let me say, why you didn't present and reviewed cheap cameras? You always talk about very expensive cameras. Maney of us doesn't have oprtunety to buy them.
What do you think about fujifilm X-A5 which cost around 500$?
I am one of fuji lovers but a poor man…
I want to have a nice and cheap fujifilm camera around 4 to 500$
It looks nice fit for my causal street photography day!
The problem is the zipper. I always get scratches on cameras and lens hoods, when I constantly pull the camera out from a bag with a zipper…
Quick question, sir: Can you switch the strap to "right shoulder carry"?
Really like your bag reviews.
Mini Kadet vs Niko sling? Your thoughts good sir? =D
Looks like a nice little bag that doesn’t shout “I’m carrying a camera!!”
Would you still recommend the regular Nylon sling cadet? We only had that one in stock here in Sweden, the mini could not be ordered. It seems very nice too, but not totally sure its the right size for the day trips i do in town with like a small compact or leica q and some extra stuff and maybe some snack.
Love the bag. Would a Fuji XT3 or 4 fit in the bag properly?
hey BHT.
can you tell me what gloves you're wearing?
good video btw 🙂
Great review Take! That Triple Fat Goose is fly af! When I was a kid in NYC in the 80s those were the most popular coats that kids (or adults) could have. They were so popular that little kids would rob eachother (or adults lol!) For their triple fat goose coats lol! No lie. I would love to own that one that you have, but I looked it up and it ain't cheap! Not sure how I feel about that mini kadet though. I've owned many versions of the kadet since they very first came out (I mentioned this on your Instagram) and I've alwasy loved them. Imo they were some of the very first actual sling bags, and not fanny bags worn as a sling, to come out. Primarily for bicyclists like myself. I can actually also carry two small stacks of 45 7" records in the original kadets. But with all of that being said I always felt like they were a little too simplistic as far as organization goes. They could have used some more mini pockets inside of their super simple big flappy pockets or something a little more refined. Because the big flappy pockets would just end up being an unorganized mess of what ever little things I might a put in there. And it doesn't look like they did any better with this mini kadet. I'll know better when I can actually get my hands on one for myself. And that cross body strap is definitely interesting! I'm hoping it's easy to adjust one handed. Or I should say, it better be For bicyclists sake!
I really like the bag, sadly not available here where I'm coming from. Shipping is pretty steep. 🙁
Hi Take, do you usually not carry an iPad or some sort when you are out shooting? I am wondering if the Chrome Kadet is big enough to hold an iPad Pro 11 inch
I have the regular blacked out kadet but this is tempting me for the days I want to carry even less haha.
very cool – fitting 3 cameras – it seems to be able to hold enough 😀
welcome to my bag-yard…
