Remember the very first time you saw an image of the Stealth Bomber? With it’s aggressive lines and matte black paint job? Well the Guardian Back-Up probably belongs on board that bird. Because the overall look and attitude is much the same.

This is a professional fixed blade knife that takes a mighty serious cut at self defense. It features blackened… and therefore non-reflective… stainless steel in a 3/4″ tang blade. It’s lightweight. It’s compact. It’s effortless to carry, and agile to use. Importantly, the Santoprene®-covered nylon handle is very much at home in the hand of those who take on life’s nastier tasks.

Don’t overlook the patented sheath. It lets you adjust the withdraw tension to suit your individual style. Clip it to your boot or belt or your strap, and you’ll never be without a reliable back-up.

Will this hold securely clipped to a belt or a pants pocket? I've been looking for a good knife to carry for protection.

I had the original black Gerber back in 1983 or 84 but lost it on a camping like a year later. I'm pretty sure the sheath wasn't plastic and made noise. If I remember correctly it was camo with a metal insert and had non adjustable springs to keep the knife in place. Always regretted losing that knife, in fact I'm looking to replace it now, that's why I'm here.

Wonderful usa, is everything just about killing? Who the hell needs a boot knife like that? Oh the U.S. Bushcraft man need that and a 50 cal. Rifle when going in to the woods! You might meat mean old Ivan, Taliban fighter or a killer US cop.
Paranoid USA, you guys are a fucking joke!!!!

Nice!  I have the old version satin finished style Guardian with the black cat's tongue aluminum handle.  I've had it a long time!

you can pull the SS clip off and and make a lanyard and use the hole at the tip of the sheath for a 'neck knife' or there is a strap loop built into it to use as a boot/leg knife or you can re-mount upside down, clips into my leather motorcycle vest pocket perfectly. a wee bit illegal in canada, but don't do nothin' to get searched and you won't get caught!! i have worn this knife EVERY WAY i have mentioned, comfy every way. i have many blades, most of 'em gerber this is THE best personal defense knife i have ever owned, and it's my favorite knife period. i gotta say the SHEATH itself is really awesome and it's half the reason i love this blade so much
